Membership Report: * Randy appointed himself new Membership Director upon Beth Pesek's resignation. Randy is in the process of transferring past and new membership information into a new data base. When club representatives send in a club members list with paid dues for all members, they need to include addresses for each member to help keep mail list up to date. Membership dues and information will be sent straight to Randy (Membership Director) this year verses the Treasurer as in 2002. In 2002... 13 clubs have joined, 8 families, and 78 individuals totaling ($1095). Randy will strive to send out membership cards within one week after membership applications are received. Old business 1. Randy - There is a vacancy for OWSA VP, Randy is supposed to appoint a VP, but it is difficult. The person appointed needs to take over next year. Any one interested or know of anybody? We need to appoint a VP for the remainder of the year. The main duty of the VP for this year is to help Randy find a President for 2003/2004. No volunteers from members present at meeting. Randy will put a note in the Spring mailing about the President/Vice-President situation and or send an e:mail to members. A list of potential VP candidates discussed were: Bob Archambeau, Gary Funk, Bruce Baker, Bob Haug, Alan Vollmar and Gill Ruehl. Call Jim Berger to ask if he will be VP for the remainder of the year. 2. OWSA Banner? Randy will Call Brian Mollet about getting a banner made. New business 1. 2003 Tournament Schedule - We discussed the upcoming tournament schedule for the year 2003 (shown below). 2. Question from Randy - Are clubs hosting a tournament in Ohio required to be OWSA members? Only required to be a member of USA Water ski because it's too hard to control. We used to use the radios. Agreement that OWSA officials wouldn't go to a tournament that wasn't a member. Two lakes (Skiers Cove and Ski I-80) and about 10 top tournament skiers not members. Ski I-80 didn't host a tournament in 2003, it was cancelled, but they have been a member in the past and are probably willing to join. Suggestion from Greg Davis: Have Brian Mollet make 13 banners and when a club joins OWSA they receive a free banner. Dick's suggestion is to charge an extra fee ($25) for non-OWSA members when they take clinics. 3. There are about 50 T-shirts left, but only large and extra large. Randy paid $9.55 each, Greg can get really good quality t-shirts for around $4.00. Great offer for next T-shirt sale. 4. Discussion around Junior development (1) need to get new kids in and get them "hooked" and (2) need to develop advanced Juniors. Will talk to Mike Meek about moving his tournament so he can help coach Junior Development jumpers. Randy will talk to Bruce Baker about his site plans for Junior Development. Sunsite as a back up. Greg volunteered Lake Lottawatta for jump. 5. Officials Clinics - If someone needs a clinic they need to set it up and talk to Larry Downes. If anyone needs to go to the Senior Clinic talk to Randy and Debbie. Dick and Linda Coss are planning on going. 6. Should we donate $300 to the Midwest Junior Development Team? Motion to donate $100 to the Midwest Junior Development Team by Jim McClure, Linda Coss seconded. Linda feels we should donate more than $100. Dick reported that the money is used for the training (gas, pro's, etc.) the week before they go. Jim reported that the money used last year went to support training at Bennett's Ski School. Money is available in the fund for the Midwest Junior Development. Linda amends motion to increase to $300, seconded by Amy. Greg thinks $300 is too much. We want to continue to support our own Junior Development Tournament and our funds will be getting low. Amy amends the amendment to $200. Motion for $200 passed. Motion to adjourn A motion was made to adjourn at 2:18 by Greg Lanich and seconded by Jim McClure. 2003 OHIO TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE (tentative) June 15 Cajun Lake 2 Rd./3 event Mike Meek 740-698-6581 |
