Top 3 Reasons I chose Honors at Miami...
Miami Honors and Scholars is an invaluable program to any student that qualifies. It is impossible to summarize the benefits, but I will briefly explain three important ones to me.

1. Friendships -- Living in the honors and scholars living learning community (in Tappan Hall) is an invaluable way to meet new people who are both similar and different. Since everyone comes from similar academic backgrounds, friendships are built from the first day of discussing high school, activities, and academics.

2. Priority Registration -- As honors and scholars students, you receive priority registration for classes at the beginning of every semester but the first. This means that you will not be closed out of classes for your major, and can almost build the perfect schedule within the time window for honors and scholars registration.

3. Living in H&S LLC and programs -- Living in the honors and scholars LLC can not only provide opportunities for friendships, but also for awesome programs. The dorm community council decides on hall-wide events that bring people in the hall together and get them involved in community service, as well as just-for-fun events.

Extra-curriculars:
Miami has opened a new world of experiences for me as a student and as a person. Currently, I am looking to get involved in Tappan Hall Community Council (possibly Associated Student Government). I am getting involved in College Republicans, Hockey Band, Honors and Scholars Advisory Board, some intermural sports (tennis, dodgeball). Eventually, I'd like to be a campus tour guide. Besides that, I enjoy hanging with all my friends in Tappan (yea.), going to athletic events, and of course playing video games in the dorm.

My Advice for a High School Senior:

"My biggest advice to high school seniors is to not only visit the campuses of the colleges they are looking at, but also to stay overnight, eat at a dining hall, and really get a feel for the life of that university. College is a big adjustment from high school, and if you're not comfortable living at the college you choose, your experience will not be a good one. Also, apply early! Between your high school classes, activities, social life, and college applications (and those essays...), time goes by fast, and sometimes the best opportunities (honors/scholars distinction, scholarships) are only available if you apply early. But most of all, COME TO MIAMI."
