What surprised me most about
college...
College
life is full of various differences from home life. The most surprising
difference, for me, was the living area. We are expected to live
out of a room smaller than our own room at home with another person.
We are also expected to not only get along with this person and
the people around us, we are supposed to like them. In my case,
I ended up loving them. I never thought I would make such good friends
in such a confined area. I always figured that organizations and
classes would fulfill such friend areas. I was quite wrong. I made
great friends in my corridor in the honors dorm, Tappan. I found
that when I needed a person to talk to or eat with, I did not need
to call my family or friends, I just needed the people in my dormitory.
It was exciting and strange to consider these people my new family,
but that's exactly how I thought of them by the end of the year.
Extra-curriculars:
I'm involved in Alpha Kappa
Psi Co-Ed Business Fraternity, Habitat for Humanity, College Democrats,
The Miami Student and the Honors Program. I also play intramural
Broomball and hope to join a tennis intramural team.

My Advice for
a High School Senior:
"I would advise him/her to get involved in activities
that he/she would actually enjoy and dedicate him/herself
to. It's important to stay involved and active in each activity
in order to actually make good impressions and friends in
each activity. It's also very important to remain friends
with people from home. Making friends in college, however,
is just as important. One should not simply keep in touch
with friends from home without going out and making new friends
with others."
