My most significant learning
experience in college...
My
most significant learning experience at Miami occurred outside the
classroom. When I first came to Miami my group of friends from home
all had very similar backgrounds and interests. I had known my high
school friends for many years (some since kindergarten) and our
closeness made us grow more and more alike. During my first semester
I met many individuals who were very different from myself and it
was surprising to see the diversity of life experiences and personalities
that existed. This exposure to countless new people and situations
taught me to value having friends that were far different from me.
I learned to appreciate the different perspectives people had to
offer and grew to love having a group of very different yet very
cohesive friends. Overall I learned that having an open mind in
any setting (particularly a social setting) can allow you to learn
incredible things about many people and create friendships that
are very unique and lasting.
Extra-curriculars:
spending time with my friends, fulfilling requirements for
physical therapy graduate school programs, running and swimming,
art and music, zeta tau alpha sorority (I am the external philanthropy
chair), EHS Student Advisory Council to the Dean, Pre-physical Therapy
Club

My Advice for
a High School Senior:
"I would tell high
school seniors to enjoy their last few months of high school
and look forward to great new experiences in college. I would
let them know that college is the place where you really find
your niche and in the right environment you get presented
with an opportunity to do whatever you find most exciting
and interesting. I would also tell them that college is foremost
about academics but in order to truly get the most out of
college you have to explore everything the University you
attend has to offer, be open minded about new people and new
situations, and never put a limit on the things you're willing
to learn." |
