What suprised me most when
I arrived at Miami...
I was actually surprised by how much free time I had. Don't take
me wrong, I still had a good amount of homework and you'll likely
spend more time out of class preparing and studying than ever before,
but you aren't really in class that much. You might even luck out
and have a day where you only have one class. There is more than
enough time to get out and find something to get involved in.
Extra-curriculars:
I swam throughout all of high school and plan to continue
swimming here at Miami for the club team. I have always been very
interested in medicine and will be joining some pre-med organizations
on campus.

My Advice for
a High School Senior:
"Start applying as soon as you can. It might seem overwhelming
at first but when you are done with it you will feel so much
better. Keep your focus, even though it is extremely easy
to lose it. Consider all of your college choices and don't
get stuck on just one school. Definitely visit the colleges
you're looking at during the school week because you will
really get a feeling of what the school is like. After being
accepted somewhere, try to attend an event for accepted students
or something similar. If you've already decided on a college,
visiting it again and walking around will help you to get
a good visual map in your head of the campus and it will really
help make the transition easier." |
