Erin's tips for completing your Honors application:
I read over 1,000 applications for the Honors Program every year, and it becomes very easy to identify those that stand above the rest. My advice to you when completing your application is:
1. Look at the application as soon as possible to allow the questions to sink in.
2. Don’t wait until three days before the due date to begin writing the application. A well-crafted, thought-provoking essay takes time, inspiration, review, and at least one major revision. If possible, reserve a week or more in which to put your application out of your mind. Then come back to it to check for clarity and flow.
3. Don’t tell us what you think we want to hear. Fight all urges to do so. Read through the questions slowly, and pay attention to your initial responses. Be genuine, confident, and challenge your readers to consider the essay prompts in a new way.
4 Finally, you cannot save a partial application and return to finish it. I suggest that you save the information in a separate document and then copy and paste it into the Honors on-line application form when you are ready to submit.
