OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR FACULTY INVOLVEMENT

In addition to teaching honors courses or leading honors co-curricular program, Miami faculty and staff can contribute to the University Honors Program in three important ways:

1. Serve as the departmental liaison to the University Honors Program:
Departmental liaisons are the point of contact for University Honors students who are pursuing a major in that department. The University Honors Program exchanges key information with the liaison to better ensure that students are given consistent messages about their progress.

2. Review student applications and portfolios:
Reviewers are asked to attend a short training session to learn how to score and review applications or portfolios, using a rubric.

3. Serve on one of our three advisory committees:
  • Honors & Scholars Program Advisory Committee (which is a University Senate committee, approves all curricular policies and courses and reviews student portfolios);
  • Honors & Scholars Program Admission and Recruitment Committee (which approves all admission policies and reviews high school student applications);
  • Honors & Scholars Program Community Committee (which approves all co-curricular policies and co-curricular program and reviews student portfolios).

For more information on how to become involved, please contact Dr. Carolyn Haynes, Director, at haynesca@muohio.edu or 513 529-2021.
