Spotlight:
Undergraduate Associates
|
The Undergraduate Associates Program gives Miami students an opportunity to work closely with a faculty member by co-designing or co-teaching a course. This is a great way to get students actively engaged in the education process. Typically, participants in the program work for a semester or a year assisting a faculty member with many of the tasks typically done in academic life (e.g., teaching, grading, attending governance meetings, engaging in research), but students and faculty members may also propose other creative ways of fulfilling the Undergraduate Associate Program requirements.

In addition to teaching honors courses or leading honors co-curricular programs, Miami faculty and staff can contribute to the University Honors Program in three important ways:
|
| Serve as the departmental liaison to the University Honors Program: |
Departmental liaisons are the point of contact for University Honors students who are pursuing a major in that department. The University Honors Program exchanges key information with the liaison to better ensure that students are given consistent messages about their progress.
|
| Review student applications and portfolios: |
Reviewers are asked to attend a short training session to learn how to score and review applications or portfolios, using a rubric.
|
| Serve on one of our advisory committees: |
- Honors & Scholars Program Advisory Committee (which is a University Senate committee, approves all curricular policies, co-curricular programs and courses and reviews student portfolios);
- Honors & Scholars Program Admission and Recruitment Committee (which approves all admission policies and reviews high school student applications)
