Welcome

In addition to administering the Harrison, University Honors, and University Scholars programs, Honors & Scholars also has some opportunities available to all Miami students regardless of whether or not they are members of one of our programs. These opportunities and resources include the Joanna Jackson Goldman Memorial Prize, the Urban Leadership Internship Program, the Undergraduate Associates (UA) Program, and a web site with information on national scholarships and fellowships.

Current college students, who are either at Miami or transferring to Miami from another intitution, are eligible to apply to the University Honors Program once they have completed between 15 and 45 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher. Miami students in the University Scholars Program, transfer students in an Honors Program at their current institution, and students who have already taken honors courses in college are given priority in admission. If you are admitted as a current college student, you will enjoy most of the same benefits and have the same requirements as all other Honors students. >>

The Goldman Memorial Prize is one of the largest awards of its kind in the nation. The prize is awarded to a graduating senior at Miami, who will be supported for a year to carry out an independently designed project. It is expected that as a result of this experience, recipients of the prize will contribute to the community of scholarship and creative achievement. >>

The Urban Leadership Internship Program is a summer internship that provides a paid professional work experience combined with a service component in an urban setting. Each student admitted into the ULIP works with the Coordinator of the program during the Spring semester to design an internship uniquely suited to their goals and interests. >>

The Undergraduate Associates Program gives Miami students an opportunity to explore careers in academia by working closely with a faculty member.>>

This web site is designed to help Miami students identify, plan for, and win national scholarships and fellowships in their pursuit of higher education. It offers information about eligibility and deadlines, and creating a winning application. >>
