Attended Indiana University School of Medicine, earned her medical degree in 1999, and graduated in top 10% of her class
Married Keith Henderson who is a prosecuting attorney in Floyd County, Indiana in 1999
Joined her father, Dr. Eli Hallal, in a true family practice in New Albany, Indiana
Recently opened a second practice in Henryville, Indiana
Mother of three beautiful children: Anastasia who is her 16-year-old stepdaughter, Alexandria who was born in 2000, and Keith Andrew, II who was born in 2002
Fond Memory : “I took a seminar on the Holocaust, and the class was able to travel to Washington, DC and spend time in the Holocaust Museum. My Scholar Leader class also travelled to Indianapolis and Chicago to meet many prominent leaders. I lived in Stoddard Hall for three years! Many interesting people travelled through those halls in those years. I often wonder what many of them are doing now—no doubt enjoying extraordinary successes.
How the Harrison Scholarship Impacted Her : “I remember (well!) the day I was notified that I was a Harrison Scholarship recipient. I was so excited to attend such a strong university and to be part of such an impressive program. Being a Harrison Scholar immediately introduced me to some of Miami’s best and brightest. We were able to exchange ideas and form friendships instantly. I have fond memories of working with closely with Dr. Nault. He always made us feel so at home at Miami.”
Other Significant Events in Her Life : “Our first child, Alexandria, was born 16 weeks early, weighing 1 pound, 10 ounces! She spent 77 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, battling apnea (episodes of stopped breathing), bradycardia (slowed heart rate), a significant bleed in her brain and many other common struggles of extreme prematurity. This experience led us to get involved with the March of Dimes where we spoke at various events and donated time and efforts to raise money to help prevent the epidemic of prematurity. Our second child was also premature, though only by 8 weeks. We are very fortunate that Alexandria and Andrew are both very healthy and ‘normal.’”
