I am one of the Assistant Directors for Academic and Co-Curricular Support. I am here to advise you on your honors requirements and to identify special opportunities for learning on campus and off. I can give you information about lectures, internships or other opportunities.

My favorite course in college was my Introduction to Women’s Studies course. This was my first college experience discussing issues of privilege and power in society and the class opened my eyes to the widespread systems of oppression that continue to exist in today’s world. My favorite out-of-class experience was definitely student teaching. I loved teaching English to my 8th grade junior high students as they taught me so much about myself and my capabilities. I am happy to share my experiences with you as well as hear about your own experiences in your advising sessions.

WHAT I DO IN HONORS:
My primary responsibility when working with Honors students is to be both a person who can help students make sense of their experiences while helping them find new experiences.  As an advisor, I work for student success and hope to help students in their various endeavors, both with class work and with building a meaningful life. .

MY BEST ADVICE:
The best advice I can give to first year students is to savor every moment of your college experience.  This is an intense time of personal growth and self discovery, and it will fly by!  Get involved, try new things, and document your college experience as it’s going to be an important and exciting four years!

BY THE TIME YOU GRADUATE:

By the time you graduate from Miami, I would most like you to learn about what drives you and what you are passionate about in your life.  Understanding your internal motivation and applying it to a purposeful goal is a process that changes over time and I hope to help you discover what makes your life meaningful.
