Greetings from Miami!  My name is Amy Griffin, and I am one of the Assistant Directors for Academic and Co-Curricular Support in the Honors and Scholars program at Miami.  I am originally from Connecticut and was a psychology major as an  undergraduate at the University of Connecticut.  I came to Miami to do my graduate work in College Student Personnel.  I am a big fan of college basketball, and Miami Redhawk hockey!  I love working to help students find their passions and become engaged citizens.

WHAT I DO IN HONORS:
My primary role is to help Honors students better understand their personal values, talents, and passions and finding opportunities and experiences that will help them achieve their goals.  Students will find that my door is often open for them to drop in and ask questions or have a conversation.  I also advise the Honors and Scholars Advisory Board (HSAB).  I enjoy helping HSAB find ways to improve the Honors program and make changes within the Honors and Scholars community.

MY BEST ADVICE:
The most important piece of advice I have for first year students is to try something new!  I played on a volleyball team for the first time in my life and found out that it was a lot of fun.  You may find a new hobby or career path that you never thought about, but you can only do that if you think outside the box.

BY THE TIME YOU GRADUATE:

I would most like students to learn about who they are as people and to find a major and a future career that allows them to be authentic to their values.  I want students to make meaningful friendships and develop a passion for lifelong learning.
