Hailiang Dong receives prestigious scientist award

Hailiang Dong, associate professor of geology, was awarded the Marion L. and Chrystie M. Jackson Mid-Career Clay Scientist Award for 2008 from the Clay Minerals Society (CMS). It is the "highest award that our society presents to outstanding young researchers in the field of clay science based on their contribution to new knowledge through original and scholarly research" according to the society's president Ray Ferrell.

Dong received the award at the CMS annual meeting, held April 5-10 in New Orleans, at which he presented a keynote talk and a workshop.

Dong received the Miami University Distinguished Scholar Award for 2007-2008.
