Kirsten Nigro
received a master's degree from Middlebury
College and a Ph.D. from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before
coming to the University of Cincinnati,
she held teaching positions at the University
of Arizona, University of Kansas, and
Arizona State University. Professor Nigro's
areas of research and teaching interest
include Latin American literature and
theatre; women writers; feminist theory;
colonial/postcolonial discourse; all aspects
of women and theatre; and Mexico. She
has published numerous articles and book
chapters on these topics. She has won
a number of honors and awards including
Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Fulbright
scholarship, NEH fellowship, Fideicomisio
Para la Cultura Mexico/USA (Rockefeller
Foundation/Mexican Ministry of Culture).
Professor Nigro is editor of the Taft
Memorial Fund and University of Cincinnati
Series on Latin American, Chicano and
U.S. Latino Theatre. She serves on the
editorial boards of various major journals
in the field of Hispanic literature and
is book review editor for Latin American
Theatre Review.
