Has
Feminism Changed Science?
will address both the history of women in
science and assess the role of gender in
shaping scientific
knowledge. Science is both a profession
and a body of knowledge, and I will look
at how women have fared in the first and
how feminists--both men and women--have
added a creative spark to science by asking
new questions, developing new theories,
and opening new fields of enquiry. This
lecture will address the changes over the
past several decades for women in science
at three levels: women as participants in
science, gender in the cultures of the sciences,
and gender in the making of scientific knowledge.
